Madewell Masonry was founded by David Moseley, a Texas ranch kid who grew up building, repairing and restoring things as a way of life. A chimney or masonry problem is usually a moisture, airflow, fire-safety or structural issue. The right service depends on what is failing: the flue, firebox, crown, cap, flashing, mortar joints, brick, stone or exterior wall system.
Tuckpointing is the repair of deteriorated mortar joints between brick or stone. A mason removes weak mortar, packs in fresh mortar, and restores the joint so the wall or chimney sheds water better and regains structural strength.
